NTO Automation Launches New Division in IT & OT Security

Horsens – November 11, 2024

With a new division focused on industrial IT security, NTO Automation strengthens its value proposition to companies in need of protection for critical digital and operational activities.

NTO has over 40 years of experience in automation and extensive knowledge of SCADA and PLC systems. With automation as its core business, NTO’s IT department has gradually specialized in OT security, carrying out projects in factories and production processes where industrial security has been a key parameter. “Most IT departments do not think much about the fact that when a programmer sits down and programs a PLC, they could potentially hack into the IT system that way,” says Kurt Nordholt, Key Account Manager at NTO Automation.

The new division is being established to consolidate and strengthen existing activities and is part of NTO’s strategic effort to meet the increasing need for protection against digital and operational threats.

NTO will assist with analyses and offer advice for securing OT networks, as well as implementing security measures such as DMZ layers that separate clients’ OT and IT networks. The division also aims to help clients with the new EU regulation in this area – specifically, NIS2 compliance. NIS2 imposes stricter requirements on companies for protecting both IT and OT systems. NTO’s new division will assist clients in complying with these requirements through a comprehensive approach to security that covers both digital and operational assets. Jan Marek has been appointed as the head of the new division.

Jan has many years of experience in IT and OT security and has previously served as CTO at INIT Denmark and CIO at Picca Automation, where he gained expertise in cloud solutions, cybersecurity, and industrial control systems. Key focus areas for the division:

Enhanced risk management: The division will help companies identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in their IT and OT systems to ensure continuous operations and reduce the risk of downtime.

• NIS2 compliance: The division can assist clients in meeting the strict requirements of the NIS2 regulation.

• End-to-end security: NTO Automation focuses on covering the entire spectrum of IT and OT security to deliver a comprehensive solution that protects both industrial processes and digital assets.

With this expansion, NTO Automation strengthens its position as a leading provider of automation and security solutions for the industry.

Efficient Palletizing of Boxes with Robotic Tools

Horsens – October 2, 2024

At Klovborg Maskinfabrik, we have just built this fully automated system for palletizing boxes with robotic tools.

The system is made in a stainless steel version and can be seen in the video below. The robotic tool grabs boxes from a grouping conveyor and then places the boxes on a pallet.

The pallet is positioned on driven stainless steel roller conveyors. The robotic tool is also equipped with suction cups, which use vacuum to lift cardboard from a magazine.

The cardboard sheets are placed at the bottom of the pallet and between layers of boxes to stabilize the pallet stack. In the video, you can also see how the boxes on the grouping conveyor are lifted when the robotic tool grabs them from the conveyor behind the robot.

Additionally, we have installed two stainless steel pallet magazines behind the system. The pallet magazines handle three different types of pallets, making the entire system more flexible and efficient. Would you like us to build a modern palletizing system for you as well? Feel free to contact us for more information. You can reach us at tel. +45 75 76 10 11 or email: info@klovborg-maskin.dk.

NTO to supply automated counting system for new bottle recycling factory

Horsens – June 6, 2024

When Dansk Retursystem’s new factory in Fredericia is completed by the end of 2025, Danish bottles and cans for recycling will be transported through the factory by systems developed by NTO. The two companies have just signed a contract after the project was put out for EU tender.

The counting system will manage the journey of Danish bottles and cans for recycling around the factory, so they are counted and sorted, after which the materials can be sent to recycling. The system includes control systems, process equipment, and various internal transport systems that automatically move containers and bags with bottles and cans through the factory.

Automation experts
NTO are experts in automation and have previously provided solutions for Dansk Retursystem’s factory in Høje Taastrup. Dansk Retursystem’s CEO, Lars Krejberg Petersen, is pleased to have NTO as a partner for the factory in Fredericia. NTO won the tender by providing the best solution at the best price. “We are happy to have an experienced partner for our new factory, and we look forward to implementing their technology in our factory. It contributes to our ambition of creating a more efficient and automated factory,” says Dansk Retursystem’s CEO Lars Krejberg Petersen.

A major project in Fredericia
NTO is delighted to be responsible for the counting system for Dansk Retursystem’s new factory.
It is a great pleasure for us to be selected as the supplier for Dansk Retursystem’s new factory. It is a major project where we look forward to utilizing our various competencies and collaborating across Motus Nordic Group A/S,” says NTO’s CEO Preben Jakobsen. NTO is part of the Motus Nordic Group A/S, which includes five different companies, including Klovborg Maskinfabrik and Niels Burcharth A/S, both of which, as subcontractors to NTO, will supply equipment for the new bottle deposit factory in Fredericia.

New factory with expansion potential
The new bottle deposit factory in Fredericia consolidates Dansk Retursystem’s activities in Western Denmark and relocates the company from two addresses in Løsning to one in Fredericia. Here, Dansk Retursystem is building a modern and high-tech factory with the potential for expansion if needed in the future. At the same time, the factory contributes to Dansk Retursystem’s goal of CO2 neutrality by 2030, partly due to the good access to the railway, which is used when materials are sent for recycling.
